Responsibilities

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a National Lead for Kids Heart Challenge on the National Development and Community Health Team.

In this role, the National Lead for Kids Heart Challenge will be part of a team that is responsible for driving operational planning and execution to achieve significant revenue increases in Youth Market programs and fundraising events: Kids Heart Challenge, American Heart Challenge and District Heart Challenge. In support of the 2020 Impact Goal, the National Lead, Kids Heart Challenge will drive our Youth Market programs from their current $85M in revenue to $200M by 2025 representing 20% of the AHAs $1 billion revenue goal.

NOTE: This position can be remote but must live near a major airport.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Consult and collaborate with national volunteer and staff leaders to help Affiliates, territories, and events focus on the highest impact priorities and drive goal achievement. Balance the strategic (big picture) focus with day-to-day execution. Develop and staff in-person and web-based trainings such as boot camps, program roll out and focus groups.

  • Travel in the field to work alongside volunteers and staff leaders to assess the program and provide real time coaching and feedback.

  • Work with the National Executive Lead of Youth Market, to lead campaign management and oversight of all youth market programs, forecasting trends while driving lead indicators and standard methodologies.

  • Provide timely direction, framework and resources to market-level volunteers and staff, while at the same time relying on their expertise, abilities, and willingness to use networks to drive the goals of the organization.

  • Develop new strategies and innovative online digital strategies. Lead design thinking, annual planning and creation of promotions for communication and reward tools to support over 100,000 schools across the country. Surface new ideas and fast track to market.

  • Help lead implementation of tactical program elements including prize structure, material management, and online experience through operations with internal and external partners while maintaining the highest level of customer experience.

  • Collaborate and cultivate relationships with internal departments such as Business Technology, finance, design center, purchasing, legal, branding and marketing.

  • Creating and development of reports as needed.

  • Develop educational material strategic direction of Kids Heart Challenge focused on elementary school students, faculty and staff, and their families, in the work of the AHA.

  • Recruiting and running volunteer led committee for Kids Heart Challenge grant program.

  • Developing and driving new revenue through Homeschool, Daycare and neighborhood series.

  • Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of related experience, with bachelor's degree a plus

  • Five (5) years of experience working with top level volunteers such as Public-School Superintendents and/or CEOs

  • Three (3) years of experience in field fundraising, outside sales, sponsorships, or related nonprofit activities

  • Ability to work cross-functionally to extend and implement national strategies on a local level

  • Excellent writing ability, presentation skills, project management, and ability to work independently

  • Consistent track record of productively participating in a multi-disciplinary team environment working towards common goals.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects while producing positive results

  • Comprehensive computer and digital media skills including Microsoft Office products and Customer Relationship Management applications (Blackbaud, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.)

  • Must be able to travel overnight approx. 30% of the time.
