Within an adult residential facility and short-term crisis residential program, Mental Health Counselors work with adults with persistent mental illness, provide basic care and supervision; teach fundamental living and social and stabilization skills. Further, they ensure operations of the house; such as cooking, cleaning and maintaining supplies and provide assistance with medication inventory; scheduling client appointments, and transporting clients. No two days are the same. Gain valuable crisis experience while working with a team that truly seeks to make a difference.
Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, or Psychiatric Technician's License; or Registered Nurse or equivalent experience.
Four or more years of experience in a mental health agency, at least two of which is in direct service, and the remainder, including some administrative or planning responsibilities.
The ability to relate well with others, to balance many tasks and responsibilities simultaneously, to be empathetic, warm, consistent and supportive with clients.
Requires computer and keyboarding skills as well as good written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to work as a member of a team and to share information with those on other shifts.
Must have valid California drivers' license and personal automobile for use on the job.
Must be able to pass Live Scan, Office of Criminal Justice and Department of Social Services clearances.
