The Center for Court Innovation is a non-profit organization that works to create a more effective and humane justice system by performing original research and helping launch reforms around the world. The Center creates operating projects that have been documented to reduce the use of jail and prison, assist victims of crime, and strengthen communities. Nationally and internationally, the Center performs original research and provides consulting services to justice innovators. The Brownsville Community Justice Center seeks to reengineer how the justice system works in Brownsville, Brooklyn. In particular, the Justice Center is dedicated to building multiple off-ramps for young people who come into contact with the justice system by providing much-needed services to young people arrested in Brownsville. The aim is to provide the kind of support that young people need to become law-abiding members of society. The ultimate goal is to reduce crime and the use of incarceration, while at the same restoring local faith in the justice system. The Brownsville Community Justice Center seeks an Associate Director of Operations to oversee the Justice Center's Operations department. Reporting to Project Director, the Associate Director will oversee systems development in a growing multi-site project consisting of multiple departments, programs, and teams. Responsibilities include but are not limited to : Work closely with the Project and Deputy Project Directors to ensure smooth operations and day-to-day management of the Justice Center; Oversee the Justice Center's Operations department, including the department's staff, related tasks, and goals; Provide one-on-one staff supervision and follow-up, of assigned staff, interns and volunteers; Develop and manage the operations of the Justice Center's departments, providing program support, oversight for data tracking, fiscal operations, event planning and execution, manage equipment requests, establishing and monitoring new protocols, policies and procedures, develop communication materials, and systems implementation within and across departments; Oversee preparation of quarterly grant progress reports and other program reports, as needed; Oversee internal audit of program files and electronic databases to ensure compliance of grant deliverables; Support grant writing and fund raising Manage Justice Center schedules, objectives, and outcomes to ensure operational efficiency and comprehensive reporting; Participate in and facilitate team meetings (and trainings) to ensure coordination and appropriate work flow across departments; Routinely meet with community stakeholders and staff to provide updates and troubleshoot issues; Organize and participate in all administration/management and program review meetings to ensure program progress and that meeting proceedings are communicated to other Justice Center staff; Represent the Justice Center at community events and meetings, supporting recruitment; Actively maintain a work culture conducive to innovation and team building; Develop training and support systems for direct reports and subcontractors; Model and facilitate creative problem solving and youth development strategies for direct reports and subcontractors; Other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications : The ideal candidate will have a BA; MA and/or significant experience in leadership roles in non-profit or government organizations strongly preferred. Candidate must have a strong ability to set and adhere to timelines and to effectively juggle multiple priorities.Excellent administrative and computer, written, and oral communication skills required. Additional requirements include: Prior management experience preferred. Ability to manage many projects and assignment simultaneously. Ability to work well with colleagues, partners, and others in a fast-paced environment. Experience working closely with delinquent, court-involved youth and families. Familiarity with the Central Brooklyn and/or Brownsville communities a plus.
