Job Description Summary

Eastern Oregon University (EOU) is seeking nominations, applications, and expressions of interest for an Assistant Director of Multicultural Recruitment to work in the Office of Admissions.

The Assistant Director of Multicultural Recruitment works to support the university’s enrollment goals by managing campus wide recruitment efforts targeting underrepresented high school and community college student populations. The position is responsible for supervising the Regional Admission Counselor and Admission Counselor of Multicultural Recruitment.

The Assistant Director of Multicultural Recruitment represents EOU to multiple constituencies, including prospective students, families, schools, and community contacts; develops and maintains recruitment initiatives to meet overall university enrollment goals; executes and assesses programs within assigned geographic territories; presents to large and small groups, plans recruitment travel, monitors recruitment expenses; and provides support to the campus visit program.

Responsibilities

-Responsible for researching territories and identifying areas of growth with EOU multicultural recruitment.

-Develops and maintains a recruitment plan specific to multicultural recruitment and
track success of initiatives.

-Uses software to track individual communication with students, analyze trends, and track data to make recommendations to meet the university enrollment goals.

-Explains Admission policies and next steps to students and provide outstanding customer service to all who interact with Admissions.

-Assists in daily interactions with prospective and current students and families through EOU campus visit program, conducts campus tours if needed.

-Provides support for all events that Admissions hosts, including but not limited to; Preview Days, Mountaineer Days, Discover Your Future, and Daily Campus Visits.

-Participates in on campus events and activities that pertain to underrepresented students.

-Develops relationships with key partners that advise underrepresented students.

-Responsible for the management and assessment of programming in order to achieve enrollment goals for multicultural recruitment efforts within the Office of Admissions.

-Represents and recruits prospective students for EOU at various events such as college fairs, high school visitations, individual appointments and, counselor functions.

Minimum Qualifications

-Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council of Higher Education Accreditation or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.

-Four (4) years of experience directly related to Student Services as a full time professional in undergraduate admissions at a regionally accredited 2 or 4 year university.

-Four (4) years of experience working with a multi-campus system, academic rules, policies and procedures, general education requirements, budgetary policies and procedures.

-Four (4) years of experience recruiting or traveling internationally with a culturally competent lens perspective and understanding.

-Four (4) years of demonstrated experience working with or creating programming surrounding outreach to underrepresented youth.

-Four (4) years of having demonstrated strong and effective communication skills both written and oral and have the ability to speak before large and small groups in a variety of settings, including effective communication with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

-Fluency in a second language. Preferably Spanish or another language that serves the EOU student population.

-Demonstrated computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

-Must be able to work in a team environment and be self-motivated. Possess strong
organizational skills and be able to work on multiple tasks concurrently

-Valid United States driver’s license with a clean driving record.

-Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.

-In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Eastern Oregon University will not sponsor applicants for employment visas.

Preferred Qualifications

-Masters degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council of Higher Education Accreditation or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.

-Ability to understand EOU admissions/university policies.

-Spanish or another language that serves EOU student population is preferred.

-Familiarity with computing systems as well as expertise in multimedia and electronic
communication.
