The Position SOS Children's Villages USA has developed a 4-year plan to grow its impact by increasing the level of funds raised in the US to support SOS programs worldwide. We believe that our program and model have tremendous potential to support rapid growth of SOS USA over the next several years. The Vice President - Finance & Administration (VP Finance & Administration) plays a critical role in strengthening operations, bringing in new investment, and supporting US expansion. Reporting to the CEO, the VP Finance & Administration serves as a member of the Executive team and leads the following team: Director of Finance & Administration, Manager of Fundraising & Data Analytics, Accountant, and consultants. This position is located in Washington, DC and requires occasional travel internationally. Leadership Outlook and Near-Term Priorities Increasing mission impact is a priority for SOS Children's Villages USA, and the VP Finance & Administration plays a large role in this priority. Near-term priorities for the next 12-18 months include: Ensure a balanced budget for 2020 Build effective relationships with and gain the confidence of the board, staff and Federation Identify and implement systems efficiencies to support accurate, timely financial reporting and forecasting and assure that accounting and philanthropy are synchronized Develop a business development growth strategy in partnership with the CEO and senior leadership Leverage opportunities for learning from the Federation Key Responsibilities Working with staff across the organization, the VP Finance & Administration provides leadership in implementing the strategic plan, strengthening internal systems, and supporting sustainable US expansion. The VP Finance & Administration is responsible for the following: Planning & Financial Management Partner with the CEO in implementing the 4-year strategic plan. Position SOS USA to be investment-ready. Ensure that SOS USA can obtain the necessary investment from internal and external sources per the strategic plan. Prioritize revenue sources and refine the business model to reflect demand for SOS programs worldwide, past performance, US policy, and internal and external factors. Balance the budget through effective cost control and innovative fundraising ideas. Evaluate overall KPIs and operations, report results to the CEO, and use metrics to inform planning for future periods. Accounting & Finance Oversee the development of an effective accounting system that provides quick access to financial information and enables strategic budgeting. Lead the budgeting process and ensure timely, accurate reporting for board, management, and funders. Maintain a sound corporate organization by establishing effective policies. Manage Board coordination and Finance Committee. Present to the Board at quarterly meetings and join Board committee calls as needed. Operations & Management Oversee SOS USA's finance/accounting, technology, data mining, human resources, and operation/administration functions. Oversee the technology infrastructure and scope out the next level of technology that supports the growth of specific programs and the organization. Work with outside IT consultant to support/troubleshoot internal IT issues and issues with other equipment. Ensure organization activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and laws governing business operations. Oversee all contract administration for the organization, working with department heads to ensure compliance and sustain new and renewed funding. Work with human resources consultants to instill a human capital development and \"coaching\" culture within the organization and to enhance human resources functions across the employment life cycle. Relationship Management and Coordination The VP Finance & Administration will understand the complexity and build relationships in regard to SOS Children's Villages International (CVI), SOS Program Supporting Agencies (PSAs; i.e., fundraising members of the SOS Children's Villages federation), SOS USA domestic affiliates (currently in Chicago and Florida), and external relations. Support expansion of new US programs; manage financial, legal and operations aspects of domestic expansion. Foster one SOS USA better coordination with CVI, PSAs and SOS national associations, and integration of SOS USA with US affiliates in Illinois and Florida. Manage relations with CVI and US affiliates (existing and new); revise existing affiliation agreement with US affiliates and ensure proper implementation and leadership role of SOS USA. Experience and Attributes Ideal candidates for this position will share our commitment to SOS Children's Villages USA's mission and will bring a variety of experiences and attributes to the organization, including: 7+ years' of progressive experience in nonprofit finance and operations management; experience with child-focused organization, global impact, and/or international development organization preferred. Proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation. Demonstrated expertise in effectively planning and managing the full range of operational infrastructure and administrative functions, including IT and human resources. Proven ability to manage operations and oversee financial aspects of a $7M+ budget. Track record of success in financial planning, budgeting and analysis, and forecasting. Demonstrated expertise in working with grants, contracts, and MOUs; experience negotiating fees in an international field. Experience overseeing compliance with financial management and reporting for federal awards a plus. Experience leading and managing teams; ability to work collaboratively with staff and board. Excellent communication, facilitation and negotiation skills. Demonstrates integrity, strives for excellence in work, and inspires others to new levels of effectiveness and operational impact. Excellent organizational, time and project management skills; flexible and able to multitask. Detail-, performance-, and results-oriented, with the ability to identify, implement, and evaluate solutions.
