The Limited-Secure Specialists job is to engage and involve youth in productive and constructive activities while supervising youth to maintain safety. The Limited-Secure performs client care duties for residents who present with problematic sexual behaviors. The Childrens Village expects a positive approach to building relationships with youth.
Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:?Adheres to all Agency and departmental Safety Procedures including reporting any unsafe practices, equipment and environment, and takes an active role in correcting the unsafe practice, equipment or environment through proper notification.?Behavioral management Using the principles of Safe Crisis Management(SCM), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support(PBIS) and youth developmental theories to establish clear expectations for resident behavior. ?Crisis intervention Exercising a proactive approach for the prevention of dangerous behaviors such as physical violence, escapes, group disturbances, and suicidal behaviors. This includes strategies that support the development and sustaining of a safe and positive environment. ?Security Executing the policies and procedures related to resident supervision and institutional security measures to ensure to assure contraband-free programs to protect the safety of youth, staff and the community. This includes but not limited to Personal, Pat-Frisk and Security searches.Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
?Safety Employing knowledge and skills in relation to emergency procedures (i.e., Safe Crisis Management, first-aid, CPR, fire safety, and communicable disease) to ensure the well-being of youth.?Custodial care Preserves the integrity of all therapeutic decisions and to ensure that such decision-making is not compromised by other considerations. Attends treatment conferences and other team meetings. Demonstrates ability to work effectively with youth who present with problematic sexual behaviors and apply milieu specific PSB interventions. Has a working knowledge of DBT and Motivational Interviewing and applies these treatment modalities within the milieu.?Record keeping Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and oral form, including documentation of events/incidents. Ensure all incident reports are completed prior to the end of the shift.?Program maintenance Implementing consistence programs, ensuring cottage is resourced, assist in creating a structured environment that embraces relationship-building to reinforce safety. ?Problem solving Creating an environment in which a youths personal, social, or emotional problems can be openly discussed, explored, and possibly resolved through effective use of interpersonal relationship skills, communication and consultation with clinical staff, and leadership in group discussions or activities.?Organizational awareness Understanding, supporting, and using the philosophy, goals, values, policies, and procedures that represent the daily operations of the facility.?External awareness Identifying and periodically reviewing key external issues and trends likely to affect the agency (e.g., legal, political, demographic, and philosophical trends).?Role modeling Ensures professionalism and maintenance of boundaries at all times.
