Description Summer Day Camp and Teen Adventure Camp Assistant Directors (classification job title: Seasonal Recreation Program Assistant I) assist Bond Park Recreation Staff in camp program implementation for traditional camps; handling specific jobs as set by the supervisor; and does related work as required. This position is scheduled up to 40 hours per week Monday through Friday. Must be available June to first week of August.

Positions are available at both Bond Park (Day Camp and Teen Adventure Camp) and Mills Park (Day Camp).
Anticipated hiring range is $11.00 - $13.00/hourly depending upon qualifications. Typical Tasks

Asst. Director Special Programs
- Supervision of activity specialists
- Responsible for training and operations of drop-off and pick- up procedures
- Maintains online camp forms
- Collects and officially documents camper accident/incident reports
- Emails weekly camp updates
- Acts in absence of Rec. Program Assistant II (Camp Director)
- Conducts primary parent/guardian communication regarding camper injuries and accidents

Asst. Director Logistics
- Creates weekly camper activity schedules
- Monitors camp transitions
- Distributes camper shirts to participants
- Distributes camp schedules
- Schedules field trips
- Assists in staff oversight and daily operations
- Prepares bus schedules
- Acts in absence of Rec. Program Assistant II (Camp Director)

Duties shared with all camp administrative personnel:
- Assists Recreation Program Specialist Camps, in conducting camp orientations;
- Performs off-site camp checks during field trips;
- Conducts camp staff evaluations;
- Conducts morning camp meeting;
- Supervises field trips/acts as a liaison with site;
- Checks daily group attendance in morning and at lunch time;
- Conducts late camper check-ins and escorts child to group;
- Helps with early and regular pick-up procedures in afternoons;
- Helps with set-ups in rooms and for special camp activities;
- Ensures that daily staff cleaning schedule is followed and assists with cleaning when needed;
- Purchases supplies and admissions for camp activities;
- Answers camp questions during morning drop-off or afternoon pick-up;
- Provides coverage in camp administrative office;
- Drives Town vehicles as needed, including transporting participants and staff members;

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requires good organizational skills.General knowledge of camp programs; general knowledge of equipment and supplies required for camp operation; general knowledge of computers and related software; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships with others; ability to understand and carry our oral and written instructions; ability to exercise judgment in controlling the activities, behavior, and safety of camp attendees; ability to supervise other staff; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; skills in the operation of common office equipment. Minimum and Preferred Qualifications Prefers two or more years of experience in teaching youth in a classroom setting, or attainment of a bachelor's degree in recreation management, physical education, elementary/middle/high school education, or closely related field.

Requires a minimum experience of one year or one summer season working in a camp setting as a counselor, camp administrator, teacher, or similar position.

Prefers experience in driving a 15-passenger van, or other similar large vehicle. Alternately, requires the ability to drive a 15-passenger van with supplied training.

Prefers certification in CPR/First Aid. Alternately, requires the ability to obtain certification with supplied training.

Requires possession of a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Requiresbackground check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.
