Conducts recreation activities for individual and group participation. As a guide, minimum education and experience include graduation from high school and prior experience leading recreation activities.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Housing & residence life experience

Minimum requirement of bachelor’s

Must have strong oral communication skills to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff

Must demonstrate initiative, positivity, and leadership qualities

Must have desire and experience working
with youth

Must demonstrate qualities of maturity, patience, and responsibility

Employment is subject to a criminal background check

Certifications or licensure required to perform the essential functions of the position

First Aid and CPR Certification

Valid driver’s license

Must be at least 21 years old

Preferred formal education or training, professional skills and work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Student Affairs, Higher Education, Marine Sciences, education, or related field

Lifeguard certification

Supervisory experience preferred

Knowledge of marine sciences is a plus

Genuine interest in the academic, social, and emotional growth of adolescents

Work HoursTypically 6:30AM - 8:30AM and 3:00PM -10:00PM Monday - Thursday; Friday 6:30AM - 10:00AM; 12:00PM - 10:00PM Sunday; Occasional overtime possible as needed to address unforeseen after-hours concerns or administrative needs.Work DaysSunday afternoon - Friday morningHours Per Week40 hours, plus potential of 7 overtime hours per weekType of PositionRecruitment Range$10 - $14/hourSpecial Instructions to Applicants

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.

Pay varies by position and is based on qualifications, knowledge, skills, and
